Techbond Group Berhad (Bursa: TECHBND, Code: 5289) is a niche industrial adhesives and sealants manufacturer headquartered in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. Unlike the broader chemicals sector on Bursa which is dominated by agrochemical distributors, petrochemicals traders, and PVC compound makers, Techbond occupies a unique position as the only pure-play adhesive and sealant manufacturer on Bursa Malaysia.

What Does Techbond Make?

Techbond develops, manufactures, and sells a broad range of industrial adhesives and sealants serving multiple end industries:

• Hot-melt adhesives -- for woodworking, furniture, and packaging
• Water-based adhesives -- eco-friendly formulations for packaging, personal care, and bookbinding
• Solvent-based sealants -- for construction and industrial applications
• INNOMELT -- next-generation hot melt using advanced polymer technology, offering low machinery downtime and superior bonding
• OEM adhesives, chemical repellents, and cleaners

Technical adhesives and sealants make up approximately 95% of total sales -- this is a highly focused, specialty chemicals business.

Global Reach

Techbond exports to over 30 countries across Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East. Remarkably, 70% of revenue comes from exports -- an unusually high export ratio for a mid-sized Malaysian manufacturer. This global diversification reduces dependence on any single market.

Shariah Status ⚠️

Techbond Group Berhad is NOT Shariah-compliant. It was reclassified Shariah non-compliant by the Securities Commission Malaysia's Shariah Advisory Council (SAC), effective 29 May 2026 (previously compliant). Muslim investors should note it is no longer suitable for a Shariah portfolio.

Manufacturing Locations

The company operates two manufacturing bases:

• Malaysia -- Main headquarters and manufacturing plant in Shah Alam, Selangor
• Vietnam -- Factory in Binh Duong Province, complete with QC centre and warehouse

In February 2023, Techbond acquired Malayan Adhesives and Chemicals (MAC) from PPB Group for RM57 million. This acquisition added a polymerization plant, enabling Techbond to produce its own polymer raw materials -- strengthening upstream supply chain control and opening a new revenue stream from selling polymers to external customers.
