Strategic Investment: Theta Edge (9075)
During 2024-2025, REDtone acquired a 12.66% stake in Theta Edge Berhad at a total cost of RM13.7 million. Theta Edge is a cloud and data centre services provider closely tied to Telekom Malaysia (TM). This investment is REDtone's attempt to diversify into higher-margin digital infrastructure services through the IDS segment.
Current Challenges ⚠️
REDtone is at a critical crossroads. After its best year in FY2024 — driven by JENDELA contract completions — the company is now facing compounding pressures in FY2025-FY2026:
- Revenue fell sharply from a peak of RM114.8m (Q4 FY2024) to RM52.2m (Q1 FY2026)
- Contract asset impairments linked to JENDELA receivables in Q4 FY2025 and Q1 FY2026
- Share price declined from RM0.55 to ~RM0.35 (-36%)
- Major shareholder BCorp divested a 4.14% stake in November 2024
