Rockwell Automation Inc. (NYSE: ROK) is the largest pure-play industrial automation company headquartered in the United States — unlike diversified industrial conglomerates such as Siemens, ABB, Honeywell, or Emerson, ROK's entire revenue base is tied to one theme: factories worldwide spending more on automation, robotics, and smart-factory software.
ROK's business is organized into three segments:
| Segment | What It Sells | Revenue Character |
|---|---|---|
| Intelligent Devices | Sensors, motor control, safety components — physical products | Recognized at point-in-time |
| Software & Control | Factory automation software, control systems — the fastest-growing segment. Organic sales +17% YoY in Q2 FY2026 | Mix of products + software, higher margin |
| Lifecycle Services | Installation, maintenance, and automation consulting across the factory lifecycle | Recognized over time — more annuity-like recurring revenue |
The Software & Control segment is the one to watch right now — not only is it the fastest-growing piece of the business, it signals ROK's shift from a "component seller" toward a higher-value software platform provider, which in theory should support higher margins and stickier customer relationships (once software is embedded in a factory floor, switching vendors becomes costly).
SHARIAH COMPLIANT per the Zoya US stock reference. ROK is a pure industrial manufacturing/technology company — no involvement in riba (conventional banking), gambling, alcohol, or other prohibited industries. Its financial ratios (debt, cash, non-halal income) also fall within permissible thresholds.
Blake D. Moret has led ROK as President & CEO since July 2016 — nearly a decade steering the company through multiple economic cycles (including the pandemic and the 2022-2024 semiconductor capex cycle). He was recently named chair of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) — an external credibility signal that Moret is respected not just within ROK, but across the broader US manufacturing industry.
