⚠️ Not Shariah-Compliant — Casino (Gambling) Operator. Wynn Resorts derives almost all its revenue from gambling activities (maisir), alcohol and non-compliant entertainment. Haram for Muslim investors under any circumstance — no purification process can cleanse a holding in a casino operator's stock. This research is provided for market education purposes only — to understand the dynamics of the global gaming industry — not as an investment recommendation.
Wynn Resorts, Limited (NASDAQ: WYNN) is one of the world's most luxurious casino-resort operators. Its core portfolio spans Wynn Las Vegas (the flagship property on the Las Vegas Strip), Wynn Palace and Wynn Macau in Cotai/peninsula Macau, and Encore Boston Harbor in Massachusetts. The Wynn brand is recognized as the benchmark for 'ultra-luxury' in casino hospitality — premium rooms, high-end F&B, and a high-roller gaming experience.
Wynn is building Wynn Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates — a roughly $5.1 billion project in which Wynn holds a 40% stake through a joint venture. This will be the first casino in UAE history, following the gaming licence granted by regulator GCGRA in October 2024. With no direct competitor at launch, Wynn is positioned for a potential first-mover window in the wealthy Gulf market — targeted opening March 2027.
Craig Billings has led as CEO since 2022, known as a disciplined capital allocator — decisions under his tenure include withdrawing from the New York casino licence bid (2025) and continuing an active share buyback program. The largest shareholder is now Tilman Fertitta (Landry's/Golden Nugget billionaire, currently US Ambassador to Italy) with a stake exceeding 10%, filed as a passive investor.
