Trimble Inc (NASDAQ: TRMB) is no longer the «GPS company» many investors still picture. Between 2024 and 2026, Trimble has executed one of the more aggressive portfolio transformations in US technology — shifting from a moderate-margin hardware positioning/GPS business into a higher-margin, increasingly recurring-revenue software company.
Management calls the strategy «Connect and Scale». The long-term target is $4 billion in revenue, roughly $3 billion in ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue), and 80% recurring revenue by 2027. To get there, management has:
Notably, even after shedding more than $1 billion of revenue through the first two divestitures, total company revenue has kept growing — evidence that the retained core business is genuinely accelerating rather than the growth simply masking underlying decline.
Following a 2024 segment restructuring, Trimble now reports across three segments:
Company-wide gross margin has expanded meaningfully — from ~59% in 2020 to ~72% in 2025 — reflecting the shift in revenue mix toward higher-margin software.
📊 Shariah Status: COMPLIANT (per Zoya reference data). This means TRMB passes both business-activity and financial-ratio Shariah screens, making it suitable for investors prioritizing Shariah compliance within a US equity portfolio. That said, Shariah status can change over time as a company's financial structure shifts — always verify current status before making an investment decision.

How to Get Gold AccessTrimble does not pay a dividend and none was declared with the Q2 2026 results. Shareholder returns come through buybacks instead: $329.0M was repurchased in the first half of 2026, and on 12 August 2026 the board approved a new $1.0B repurchase authorization. Management says it has deployed about $1.2B in repurchases since early 2025, and the share count is down about 3.9% year on year.
For income-focused investors this is not a fit. For growth investors, buybacks at a forward P/E in the mid-teens are a reasonable use of cash, as long as they are not funded by stretching the balance sheet.
