Hut 8 Corp (NASDAQ: HUT) is no longer just "a bitcoin mining company." Since 2024-2026 it has been aggressively transforming into a power-first AI/HPC data center developer, while still carrying a large Bitcoin treasury and a legacy ASIC mining business that is now largely housed under its majority-owned subsidiary, American Bitcoin.
This framing matters because it determines how you should evaluate HUT: not purely as a Bitcoin-price proxy, but as a combination of three businesses with very different risk profiles and growth trajectories.
| Segment | Q1 2026 Revenue | % of Total | Function |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compute | $66.0M | ~93% | ~107,600 ASIC servers (legacy bitcoin mining) plus an emerging AI cloud compute business. The core revenue engine today. |
| Power | $3.7M | ~5% | Acquisition and management of energy assets - 5,315 MW under diligence, 830 MW under construction. The strategic growth engine for the future. |
| Digital Infrastructure | $1.3M | ~2% | Builds and operates data centers - 6 ASIC compute facilities, 5 traditional cloud locations, 2 AI facilities under construction. |
Note the large gap between the Compute segment (dominant today) and the Power and Digital Infrastructure segments (still small in revenue terms, but the segments driving the AI-infra re-rating story since mid-2026).
Asher Genoot has led HUT as CEO since February 2024. Before that, he was co-founder and President of U.S. Data Mining Group (US Bitcoin Corp), a venture-backed private bitcoin mining company that Hut 8 acquired in 2023. In June 2026, Hut 8 appointed E. Stanley (Stan) O'Neal, former CEO of Merrill Lynch, as Chair of the Board - a high-profile appointment signaling institutional credibility.
Per the Zoya reference database (zoya_us_stock_reference), HUT is classified as COMPLIANT. That said, because the company holds a large Bitcoin treasury and operates in the crypto-mining/AI-data-center industry, you should periodically re-check this status, as Shariah screening for such companies can shift as financial ratios (debt levels, cash/crypto holdings relative to total assets) change.

How to Get Gold AccessQ2 2026 (quarter ended 30 June, reported 4 Aug 2026) shows two very different stories in the same set of accounts: a mining and compute business that is growing and getting more profitable at the operating level, and a headline GAAP loss driven by bitcoin's fall.
| Metric | Q2 2026 | Q2 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $74.9M (+81%) | $41.3M |
| Compute revenue | $72.5M | $34.3M |
| Gross margin | ~64% | ~47% |
| Adjusted EBITDA | $10.4M | $4.2M |
| BTC produced | ~935 | 308 |
| GAAP net loss (total) | -$177.1M | Net income $137.3M (attributable) |
| Diluted EPS | -$1.27 | $1.18 |
About $138M of the Q2 loss was a non-cash digital-asset mark-to-market loss as bitcoin fell. Strip that out and the operating picture is better than the headline, but not yet profitable in a way that funds the build-out by itself. Q1 2026 revenue was $71.0M, so Q2 was a modest sequential step up.
The balance sheet is where the story gets unusual. Consolidated debt is about $7.6B but it is project-level and non-recourse to the parent, and is matched by roughly $6.8B of restricted cash from the River Bend and Beacon Point financings that is earmarked for construction. Unrestricted cash was $233.6M. On 28 Sep 2026 the company added a $1.07B four-year senior secured revolver for parent-level liquidity.

How to Get Gold AccessHut 8 does not pay a dividend and we do not expect one in the near term. The company reports GAAP losses, is committing capital to a multi-gigawatt data-center build, and the project-level financings are structured to service their own notes first. If you are looking for income, this is not the right kind of stock.
Trailing dividend yield is 0%. The way shareholders may eventually be rewarded is through the value of the leased campuses once they are built and cash-generating, not through payouts in the next few years.
