OTP and TAC in M+ Global: Everything You Need to Know
OTP and TAC are two verification codes used in M+ Global to protect your account. Many clients confuse the two, or face issues not receiving these codes.
This article answers all OTP and TAC questions based on over 180 real questions from Mahersaham clients.
Difference Between OTP, TAC and Trading PIN
| Code | What Is It | When Used | How Received |
|---|---|---|---|
| OTP | One-Time Password for login | Every time you log in to M+ Global | SMS to registered phone number |
| TAC | Transaction Authorization Code | To authorize sensitive transactions (info changes, large withdrawals) | SMS to registered phone number |
| Trading PIN | 6-digit PIN you set yourself | To confirm every buy/sell order | You set it yourself, stored in app |
In summary: OTP for login, TAC for sensitive transactions, Trading PIN for stock orders.
Problem 1: OTP Not Received (Step by Step Troubleshoot)
Step 1: Wait 2 Minutes
SMS sometimes experiences delays, especially during busy market hours (9:00-9:30am). Wait at least 2 minutes before requesting again.
Step 2: Verify Phone Number
Check that the number shown on the login screen is yours. M+ Global shows a partially hidden number (e.g., 012-XXX-X789). Verify the last 3-4 digits are correct.
Step 3: Check SMS Inbox
Open the Messages/SMS app on your phone. OTP comes via regular SMS, not WhatsApp or email.
Step 4: Make Sure Inbox Isn't Full
If your SMS inbox is full (thousands of old messages), new messages may not come in. Delete old SMS to make room.
Step 5: Check Signal/Network
Make sure your phone has signal. Try sending a regular SMS to another number to test.
Step 6: Restart Phone
Restarting can fix temporary SMS reception issues.
Step 7: Try Resend OTP
Tap the "Resend OTP" button in the app. You can usually resend after 60 seconds.
Step 8: Contact CS
If all steps fail, contact CS at @mahersahamplatform or M+ hotline at 1300 22 1233.
Problem 2: TAC Not Received
TAC troubleshooting steps are the same as OTP above. Additional notes:
- TAC may have a shorter expiry time (usually 3-5 minutes). Enter immediately after receiving.
- Don't request TAC repeatedly too quickly - wait at least 60 seconds between each request.
- If a transaction requires TAC but you're unsure why, don't proceed - it may be an unauthorized access attempt. Contact CS immediately.
Problem 3: OTP Expired Before Entering
- Request a new OTP by tapping "Resend OTP"
- As soon as you receive the SMS, enter it immediately - don't wait
- If OTP arrives late and you've already requested a new one, use the latest OTP (last received), not the first
Problem 4: Too Many Wrong OTP Attempts
- Wait 15-30 minutes - system auto-unlocks after cooling down period
- After unlock, request a new OTP and enter carefully
- Make sure you enter the latest OTP, not an old one still in your SMS
Security Tips for OTP and TAC
- Never share OTP/TAC with anyone - including people claiming to be from M+ or Mahersaham. We will never ask for your OTP.
- Don't screenshot OTP/TAC and send via WhatsApp or any platform
- If you receive an OTP without requesting one, don't ignore it - someone may be trying to access your account. Change your password and contact CS immediately.
- Keep your SIM card secure - if your phone is lost or stolen, contact your telco to block the SIM immediately, then contact Mahersaham CS to lock your trading account.
- Only download M+ Global from official Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What's the difference between OTP and TAC?
OTP (One-Time Password) is for login. TAC (Transaction Authorization Code) is for authorizing sensitive transactions like large withdrawals or personal info changes.
Why is my OTP always delayed?
SMS delays are usually caused by busy telco networks, especially in the morning (9:00-9:30am) when the market opens. Try restarting your phone or wait a few minutes.
Can I receive OTP via WhatsApp or email?
No. OTP and TAC are only sent via regular SMS to the registered phone number. This is for security.
Someone asked for my OTP, should I share it?
NEVER share your OTP with anyone. No M+ or Mahersaham staff will ever ask for your OTP. This is most likely a scam attempt.
I received an OTP but didn't request one, what should I do?
This may indicate someone is trying to access your account. Don't ignore it. Contact CS immediately to lock your account and change security details.
Are Trading PIN and OTP the same?
No. OTP is sent via SMS and changes every time. Trading PIN is a 6-digit code you set yourself that stays the same until you change it. OTP is for login, Trading PIN is for confirming buy/sell orders.
Conclusion
OTP, TAC and Trading PIN are three different security layers in M+ Global. Understand each one's function and never share these codes with anyone. If you experience issues receiving OTP, follow the troubleshooting steps above before contacting CS.
